I just saw where the Texas governor asked for help from any private citizens who could assist with the rescue effort in Houston to please help. While watching the NBC news in Jackson, Ms I saw a news feed that showed the Cajun Navy headed west to help...Good luck and God Speed Cajun Navy.

If you know anyone that needs assistance.
You can get in touch directly with the rescuers by downloading the Zello push-to-talk app and search for the channel called: "The Cajun Navy". It works like a walkie talkie. There is 180 people on that channel, standing by, ready to assist.

Searching wouldn't work on my app for some reason. I had to log in on the zello website and scan the QR code to get it on my phone.

Are the roads even open to get a boat to Houston? What's the most eastern spot where people need help?

They're open for the most part...Heard earlier that they are keeping travellers out with a police barricade I heard in the Winnie area.

Some cajun navy guy on the app was saying if you say you're bringing a boat to help they will let you through.

I imagine if you have a boat on the back of the truck you won't be stopped no matter who you're with at this point.

I would get on the Cajun Navy op page, its a closed group but they can get in the right direction. Most of the guys were going to humble this morning. Dickinson was turning into a shite storm and a bunch of boats were just sitting around.

ETA: Honestly though with all the reservoirs being released on the west side of Houston, that's probably the place to go to help.

Hopefully lots of other lives are saved and all of the support heading that way can get there and get boats in the water

If anyone is interested CSC Customs is trying to gather supplies and people with boats to meet up at their shop and head out this evening. They have a pretty good game plan to stay on the east side of the storm around lake charles due to the amount of people on the other side of the state line in case of flooding in the lake charles sulphur area and to help others on the line. They have also set up a paypal page for donation to buy things once they get closer to their destination.

They are in communication with people already in Houston and the surrounding areas, and came up with the plan to stay to the east and help there and be on stand by to see what the storm decides to do

I feel helpless not being able to hook up the boat and go help like last year. Had major back surgery Thursday morning and am stuck in bed watching the news.
God speed guys. Wish I could join y'all.
