The wife and I are thinking of buying some propery/lot to build a lake house in Louisiana or Mississippi for a retirement escape in the future. If you had the choice, which lake would would purchase property on that has good fishing and great views ??

I'll third BSL. Buddy has a "camp" there. Really just a nice arse house. Love going there.

I live on the water in Bay Saint Louis, can't beat it between the fishing, water sports, restaurants, casino, bars, beach, etc

look in the Garden Isles area if you do look at BSL, multiple waterfront "camps" around me for sale in the 100-200k range with access to both salt and fresh water

I agree that the coast is awesome for fishing, just not looking to deal with hurricanes. I've been looking a lot at Toledo Bend bc I've fished it and it's a very nice lake. Was just curious about places like caney lake or lake bruin in LA or lake eddins in MS

That spot is beautiful. Used to drive past it all the time on the way to the duck camp. Its right by that old runway right? Oxbow looking lake surrounded by cypress in the middle of some fields?

BSL is nice, however if you are planning to build, the post Katrina guidelines are absurd. I think sub floor has to be 18ft above sea level .

find a spot on a Red River oxbow. No hurricane or flooding concerns, plus access to river for fishing and recreation. Anywhere from Shreveport to Marksville.

My Dad lives at Poverty Point. There are some great sunsets out there. The fishing is pretty good as well.

That's it. Only a handful of houses on it
