I will be purchasing a climber very soon. I have always used lock-ons or ladders so I don't much of anything about them. I will be hunting private property so I won't have to carry it in and out each hunt so I don't know if a more heavy one will be a negative. Anyway, just looking for opinions on which is most comfortable. I'm not looking to spend more than $300 and if I can get one cheaper even better. TIA

i hunt climbing stands a ton and use only summit climbers. Not to say there might not be anything better, but they work well for me. Easy to carry, easy to assemble, easy to set up, light weight, comfortable, sturdy, and easy to use with bow or rifle.

I still have and use the first one I bought. It's about 15 yrs old

In a summit viper right now. Pretty darn comfortable and not too bad to tote around. Now if this wind would just lay down and stop blowing me 4' side to side!

I had an Ol Man vision that we bought in the late 90's. I sold it last year and hunt mainly ladders and boxes with the kids. Ol man used to be out of Hattiesburg but not sure if they sold out and moved production overseas.
I hear nothing but good about Summit. If I was in the market that's what I would do.

I use a 15 year old API Grand Slam that I have been happy with. It is heavy, and not the easiest to fold up, but I still like it. I have used Ol' Man climbers many times in the past, and they are easy to fold up and light. They aren't that comfortable though. The last Summit I used was heavy as frick

Started with Bakers (death traps) in the 70's, I think?
Amackers in the 80's.
Several different kinds, including Ol Mans and API's,,,

right up until I bought and used my 1st Summit, had a few since,, in fact spent yesterday afternoon in one. IMO, the most easiest, quietest and definitely the most comfortable.

Just saw this. Get the biggest one you can with the best foot holds. Maybe one with the footrest that flips up to a gun rest. Rigid sides and an easily movable seat are nice. If you're just leaving it strapped onto the same tree 90% of the time, weight, assembly, and disassembly don't matter one bit.

I have room to stand up and stretch my legs in mine, but have been in some that are tight as hell.

My dad had a Baker that I used a lot; sucker was dangerous, but I learned to hug a tree before tree-hugging was cool.

I use ole man now and it is comfortable with the mesh seat. I have an aluminum and a steel one. Get aluminum if you walk far

You want the aluminum one. Not the steel version.

I am with the majority. Summit all the way but add the foot rest and consider wrap around seat. I have a viper with these added and it is awesome.

I've still got scars on my chest from hide peeling off, due to sliding down so many trees, at a very high rate of speed.

They're comfortable compared to a lot,, but try a big Summit, (Goliath, is the kind I have, I think),. Hardest thing I have is to stay awake.

ETA: when Ol Man went overseas, the quality suffered. I had issues, talked to dealers, they admitted it and some of their oldest dealers got away from them.
