Would you? Found a pretty clean looking truck, but it's been lifted (at least leveled quite a bit). Looks like it was a street queen but still. My gut says no.

Is it a coil/strut lift or a spacer?

In most cases they are street Queens.

I wouldn't really worry too much about it unless the primary driver was a teen because they do stupid crap. I know I was one haha

Depends on how lifted and what I thought of the owner. Probably 90% of lifted vehicles out there now days are mall crawler(I'm guilty). If it's some kid that has it then the chances of it being ragged go up, if it's an older guy who maybe used it occasionally to get to a duck blind or something like that I'd feel better about it.

Only seeing it online. Will check out in person within a few days. I think it's a strut/coil level from the online pics.

No I'm not in high school, but it's a fairly specific truck I want and I saw one for sale in my area.

Check the underside...see if the frame is packed with mud and look for scrapes and other rash due to going offroad

My rule is always get it checked by a mechanic before buying. I've done it on a used car I bought that was only 1 year old.

Just pay attention to balljoints, tie rods and cv's.

That should tell you a good bit

Solid advice right there. Be sure and check the carfax on it too. Sometimes dealerships buy vehicles that have been wrecked and fix them up with lift kits and tires and rims and resale them. I made the mistake of not checking the carfax on one that I bought and ended up the vehicle had frame damage and was worth 10k less than KBB value. Had all kind of electrical and drivetrain problems with it. Lesson learned.

ETA: The truck only had 3000 miles when I bought it and was told by the salesman that it was a dealer demo. That's why I didn't check the carfax.

10-15 years ago, I'd say be weary. Nowadays, everyone and their grandmother has a leveled truck.

If the front is noticeably higher than the rear, skip it. More than likely, it was a kid or a white trash dude. Either one of those circumstances would have it being ragged on

Me being young and dumb, I bought it. Drove it for a couple months with no problems. Then the headlights started going out and I started to have alignment issues. I had the truck aligned 3 times in 2 months and it would get visibly off in just a few weeks from normal driving. Just before 6 months I went to see if I could trade it in on a GMC at another dealership and they were the ones that informed me about the frame damage and it being worth 10k less than blue book.

I went straight back to the dealership I got it from and dropped it off, pitched a fit, and told them to fix everything that was wrong with it. After a week of back and forth I went back and got to talk to the manager of the dealership and told him that I wanted him to get me out of it for what I owed on it (which was blue book value) or I was going to go to the newspaper and let everyone in the area know about the shite they were pulling on people. He crawfished and worked out a deal to get me in another truck and I took the deal. I more than likely got screwed and overcharged on the deal I made, but at least I had a decent truck with a low note.

A few months later that dealership ran that manager off for some of the shady shite that he was doing.

I drove a lifted truck for a pretty long time.

I highly doubt I ever do it again. It's a pain the arse to own.

The big tires destroy your driveline and fuel mileage. It'll eventually start eating ball joints, tie rod ends, Pittman arms, etc. shite starts creaking and getting out of alignment. Lots of parts are no longer factory which creates service issues. It just ain't worth it unless you need it. I needed it for a while.
