I am close to putting a deposit on a new brittany pup. Last dog was a male weimeraner that we had for 11 years and he was fantastic. Anyone have thoughts about the relative advantages/disadvantages to a male or female?

TIA

I've found females are easier to train for hunting. Male pups get distracted easier lol.

ETA: Last dog I had was an English Springer Female. Smartest dog i've ever seen. Picked up commands really quick.

Not sure on the brittanys but the with GSPs the males tend to be a little more stubborn and hit the brush harder. My female produces just as many birds just with a different style...

Had one for 15 years, way too smart for his own good. Great dogs!

Female bird dogs are way more obedient and easier to train. Don't get a male.

Well this isn't very accurate at all

Maybe with labs, setters are the exact opposite

Are you looking at American or French Brits?

Here's mine.

Around Chattanooga. Or in that area? I just met a guy with an American Brit, he got from there. Pup was ten months old and looked like a roided up version of mine

American Brits can get up to 50lbs sometimes. I'd get a female, for an American.
