Brought on by Lab wanted post...

Anyone know of a private breeder of the Boykin? I've searched the internet within 250 miles of Shreveport and cannot locate a breeder that is even expecting a litter this year. I'm on a waiting list...but with approximately 50 ahead of me...I'll have a dog in 2015.

Her name is Loretta Gordon her husband is Mike Gordon, he is going up this weekend to pick up his pup. He thinks all the pups from this litter are spoken far but he is not 100% positive.

MIKERETT2000@aol.com is her e-mail.

He knows her pretty well he said if you would be willing to send me your info he would pass it along to give her a heads up and maybe get you up in front for the next litter if these are spoken for.

How far are you willing to go? Tons of good Boykin breeders in SC since the breed originated here.

I have a Boykin Spaniel. Its a great dog. I bought it from a breeder in South Carolina and it was flown into Alexandria. Its the state dog of South Carolina, originally bred because the bigger duck retrievers were tipping over the boats. Hope the breed catches on down here. They are just as good as a lab or golden for ducks, and only 1/3 of the size.

I live in Columbia, SC. There are many breeders around the state (as others have posted) that can help you. I lease hunting land in Boykin, SC, the family that developed the breed is still active in some of the local retriever clubs, etc. I am glad to help you find a breeder locally if you can't hook up with somebody in La.

Don't be scared to get a dog air mailed from a good reputable breeder. Dad did it once with a blue lacy out of texas and it went fine. Having to go to the airport to pick it up kinda sucks, but probably the best dog we've ever had came out of the cargo bay of a 747...
