Good luck. Was catching some bass in the ponds closer to the river rd when it was warm last week. Sunday should be a good day.

The two canals that lead to the lake north of airline. The second one is closed off. He calls them that so I always kinda have. The first one isnt a pit at all. He told me h and his dad would shoot gar with a bow in the 60s back on the right side the east levee road following the canal to the lake.

The levees were made with the dirt from those canals

Next to the river where they dig dirt out, although technically the entire spillway is a borrow pit

We call them hog ponds. Big bass in there during spawn. Try for reds in the lake off the new pier

My buddy took his kids crabbing there earlier this year and mopped up. It's been two years since I been out there. Tightened up my suspension today on the SxS. Added some rod holders and a stereo to cruise around drink beer and fish. Might even strap the kayak to the roof

Anywhere to ride a jeep out there? Or trucks off limits? What's the deal? Never been to the spillway, only pass it on i10/airline.

I grew up in Norco and we always called them the upper (west side) and the lower (east) suction.

Used to be a great place to play in the 60 and 70's with the Lions Club house , dock and water skiing. The opening of the spillway in 1973 wrecked all of that.

Nice seeing it come back a bit. Have fun.

If they monitored it better and made it bow only and had a few weekends for deer which is close to what they have now they would have a decent herd of deer also. Deer opened after thanksgiving for the weekend. But it is coming back just need to keep the riff raff out of there.

We call them bar pits around here. Too many syllables in borrow for us crackers, I reckon.
