used to go tubing out there. A lot of white trash and wankers from slidell and pearl river tend to occupy that place.

Probably my favorite park in LA. It has a splash area for the kids with a water slide. Also has a playground in the same area with covered picknick tables. There are two beach access points and there is tubing on site for a fee. Miles and miles of hiking trails as well. The upland RV loop has full hook ups and the bottom land has water/electricity with several sites on their own pond. Plenty of stuff to do there.

I am sure somebody did.....

We did see a lot of Wild Pigs.

ETA: Palmetto Park is set up for Canoers and Kayakers. Plenty of Canoe Trails and the Cabins are the newest of all the State Parks.....VERY NICE!!

Very nice park. It seems like they close the bottomland campground every time it rains. We always reserve at the upland to avoid cancellations due to high water. The "Gorge" area is very unusual to S. LA.

About the only positive to land o pines is the creek. The campground itself is pretty trashy with about half of the campground being privately owned spots where people just leave their campers like camps. Some are nice but most are trash. There are very few private campgrounds that i have found to be decent.

UPdate:

We finally went on camping trip there this past weekend. Beautiful state park, is really a big place. Beautiful woods and trails if you like that. Nice bike riding but kind of hilly. Got a decent place to go swimming in the creek. Had an ok water feature park with a bunch of coons. Sites were really nice with these decks and all. Overall, was a very nice place to go that isn't too far from my house to mix it up.
