Last couple years been using bleach and dawn to clean my bay boat. Got to thinking that the bleach cant be good for the clear coat. What do you guys use that gets up fish guts in shite after its smeared all on the inside of your boats that's better than bleach?

Also, what wax do you use... would reg ol turtle wax be just as good?

Reminds me of the time when a guy paid me $500 to detail a 42ft Fountain. Thought I was making out like a bandit before I started. Three days later

Eta: I just used car soap and waxes

You'll have to ask the Capt. what "I" use, cause all I do is the grunt work. I'm damn good at it too.

Starbrite hull cleaner on the outside. 3m wax. 3m is really easy to apply. I was told to hit it with the liquid car wax at the car wash every time I clean it to keep the wax job going strong. Only done it twice so I don't know if it helps. I've always used soft scrub on the deck surfaces to get blood stains off. But that's probably bleach as an active ingredient.

It will also burn the crap out of your hands. Stuff is strong. But it works when you need to get that yellow line off.

Simply Green is great boat wash and is biodegradable. Bleach kills your wax, especially the more expensive stuff like "Woody's Wax. It is also very bad for the upholstery stitching.

Yep, not fun when you have peeling cuticles on your fingers or cuts on your hands. I'd rather have Tabasco rubbed on them than Starbrite.

Orpine- it's a wash and wax. Most of the yacht guys use it.

Been using it for about 4 years, my fiberglass guy says he can't get over how new my boat still looks.

I heard a charter guy say- "if that stuff was any better, I'd put it in my coffee".

West Marine sells it.

Use bleach, but that removes the wax over time. Best wax that is easy to use is the 3M. Go to Harbor Freight and buy one of the sander/buffers. Money there to use to buff the wax out.

I tried other waxes over the years, but 3m cleaner/wax worked the best.

Water stains on the outside, use muriatic acid along the line and bottom. Just wet the trailer good and everything under. Use rubber gloves to apply. Let it sit for about 5 mins and rinse off, then wash with dawn soap. Break out the 3M. Put two coats and you are good for a year.
