Boat dealership hours of business.

So my wife and I set out this morning to go look at boats as I will soon be in the market for a new boat. We first went by Greenwell Springs marine.......closed. So we headed over to Boats Unlimited........closed. Was going to swing by Aqua Marine later. Their website says they close at noon. What are these places thinking? Most people have time on the weekends to shop for a new boat. Are consumers expected to take a day off work to go boat shopping? I am confused.

Most dealerships close shop to go to boat shows across the southeast
But yeah, it's odd to me that they don't have a few people around on the weekend.

BassPro doesn't have a boat that I would consider buying.

These places stay open well past 5 o'clock during the week. That's when you should make time if you can't go during the workday. The people that work/own these places also like to enjoy their boats on the weekend just like the rest of us.

That's all we get? Give me a story man. I bought my ranger from there and if likely not but another from them but I want to hear your story first.

We purchased a Glastron from them, has trouble getting service from them so went to another dealer for service. We were asked when spark plugs were changed and we said they had not been. Come to find out they were high performance plugs with seriel numbers and Aqua pulled them from the new boat and installed cheap plugs before the sell. Glastron made us right and pulled the dealership from Aqua...

Their primarily owned by business owners.
Contrary to popular belief, businesses are in business to make their own lives better.
Some owners feel that if they can make enough money during the week, why be open on weekends?
It's an odd thing.
My customers don't understand it much either.
ETA: I understand your frustration.

I guess I thought they were in business to make money. Seems they would get as much traffic on a Saturday as they would the rest of the week combined. But I'm not a business owner. I'm just a customer looking to buy a boat on a Saturday.

If you are so eager to buy a boat on Saturday then you'd still buy one at 530 on a Monday.
I would guess they mostly get a bunch of tire kickers that do nothing but waste their time on Saturdays. If you are serious about buying a boat then you'd find the time during the week or after 5 during the week.

I don't understand it either, I'll buy something when I want to buy something. There are too many options to wait until someone wants or thinks I should buy something.
And screw making a huge purchase like that after work. Who wants to sit in a dealer for like 3 hours after work.
If the owners of the place make enough during the week good for them. No one said they have to be there for the place to be open.

What on earth are you talking about? Why would it take you 3 hours to buy a boat?
Have you ever thought that it's not worth the trouble to open on a Saturday when he's getting enough business M-F? It's not his fault you have a job that won't let you get away during the week to go looking for a boat.

Not trying to be a dick, but you could just call them and would most likely accommodate you.

I purchased an aluminum Ranger from them in February with a 115 mercury. Started beeping when I turned the key in a month or so after I bought it. Took it back and they had it for two weeks and have it back to me saying nothing was wrong with it. Started beeping again and I drained the tank thinking I got some water in my fuel. Kept beeping. Took it back to them again and after two weeks and the mercury rep coming in to look at it the temp sensor on the air intake was bad. They had just started selling mercurys before I bought it and I think they already got their affiliation jerked from them.

I guess you go in and pay sticker or something. By the time all the paperwork is done and everything, I bet you spend 2+ hours there.

Yeah you're right. It's much more important that the business is convenienced than it is that the consumer feel their time is important.

I'm not going to make a special request that they open the store on a Saturday so I can go possibly buy a boat. Who knows if we can make a deal?

1. call dealership
2. ask if they have the boat you're looking for
3. set up a time to go check it out
4. ???
5. buy a boat
