I'm going to visit the Caverns and do the tour next month. Anyone familiar with the area?

Would you mind sharing some other cool spots to check out?

Yes, actually ended up in the area after running from Katrina. It was quite different for me, the elevator ride DOWN was different when you got on at ground level.
That whole area was great if they realized you were from the LA area, no charge for the tour even after I argued.
I stayed I'm Mountainview, road my bike, ran the back trails and fished the river with my new friends which was an eye opener.
Very nice area although you could see it was growing, which might not be good now.
Good luck.
PS, the caverns were nice. Do it if you're from an area that doesn't have them.

Used to go there a lot as a kid. Unique area, youll enjoy it.

Lights went out during a thunderstorm once. I've never experienced darkness like that.

Spent a few days in the area last year.

I was really impressed by the caverns and the story of their discovery.

Greer's Ferry Lake was great also.

Beautiful part of the country, you'll have a great time.

If you decide to stay in Mtn View and you're looking for stuff to do then check out Loco Ropes. If you like zip lines and rope courses.

Also, you can book a room at Jack's Resort. It's right on the White River. They have a catfish restaurant on site too.

You can swing by and watch this kid play some banjo. Just don't wonder around in the woods to much.

I'm going to fish the Buffalo river while I'm up there! Is fishing a 1/8oz hook w/ a grub pretty much idiot proof?

Yes. If you're not scared to drop a few bucks then hire a guide. Donald Crainor is as good a guide in the area. Hell, he's taken Bill Dance out fishing on his tv show.

I moved away from North Arkansas about 20 years ago and really only get back to see family a few times a year. Mostly around deer season.

I grew up hating the Buffalo because I always found spots too shallow and had to carry my canoe. I grew up in Mountain Home so when I didn't want to hit Norfork Lake or BulL Shoals Lake then I would go up in Missouri and float the Bryant River. The rental place was named Dot Mill. You could catch small mouth bass all day with little effort.

Man, Buffalo River is the bomb. I loved having to walk my canoe in spots. I wish I could go back there with my kayak.
