This bird has been in my back yard a few times and I was finally able to get a few shots of it with the DLSR.
Can anyone help me identify it. I thinking some sort of Falcon.

Looks like that could be it. Are they common in Louisiana?

Yet another Red Shouldered hawk.

Yep, looks like it. Crazy when you google these pictures how many different color variations there are for the same species. Makes it tough for an amateur

I think that's it.
Thanks for the help. I had no clue what to even google.

Make sure your (or your neighbor's) yorkie is inside. I've seen it happen, it is not pretty.

Merlin bird app is great for identifying birds. Red shouldered hawks are very vocal. You can play the calls of the bird on the app as well.

Just downloaded this with the Southeastern Bird pack. First and only bird that popped up after running the query was of course the Red Shoulder

Starting to look like they are staging in preparation for the upcoming war on humans.

See them here in North Central Alabama and I would say red shouldered hawk.
BTW, your neighbor will pay quite a bit for a roof job when that time comes......just sayin....
