Looking at the MS 271 farm boss. Will be cutting decent size trees on our land getting ready for deer season.

Anyone have this or prefer another? This might be a little too much chainsaw for my needs but I'd rather go a little above my needs than undershoot the mark with something smaller that potentially couldn't cut it, pun intended.

Good choice. The 291 is a little bit bigger 55.5 CC vs 271 50.2 CC. They weigh the same. 291 will cost $50 or so more money. Something to think about.

Depends on how much you'll really be cutting. To me, the MS362 is the best saw given it weighs the same as the 271 and packs a lot more power. It's also a pro saw and carries the price tag to match. Can get it with a wrap handle, great if working in brush. I have a 391 which is also a good step up from the 271 in terms of power per pound. How much bar do you plan on running?

Whatever farm-grade stihl is rated for the length bar you want is the right answer.

May as well get the MS362; same power, lighter, and a Stihl.
