An old fella I fish the Slidell Bridges with called me last night for an impromptu trip today and I'm sure glad I took him up on his offer. Light winds, good falling tide and an approaching front had the trout in a frenzy at the 2nd spot we stopped at.

We hit some inner ponds, lagoons and bayous off Bayou Biloxi today. I'm not certain on all the names. The first stop was a lagoon where I jinxed us by catching a trout on the 1st cast. 1 hour and 5 trout later we moved to where my buddy knew the tide would be moving a bit harder and that was the ticket. Had a 2 man limit in the boat by 9:20am. It was a literal feeding frenzy. Shrimp scattering everywhere and corks/lures going under as soon as they hit the water. If one fish spit the bait, the cork didn't even have time to pop back up before another fish had it. I hooked into a really nice red and while I fought him for almost 10 minutes my buddy had time to pick up all the trout that were laying on the floor of the boat and catch a half-dozen more. It'd been a long time since I've been on a bite like that. It slowed down around fish # 42 so we had to troll around that immediate area and we managed the full 50. Then we spent the next couple hours looking for reds and scoping out other potential spots.

Great day in the Biloxi Marsh!

My buddy just moved to a new place and his property is heavily wooded. He hasn't built a boat shed yet but it's high on his priority list now.

you think the strong front that came through had something to do with the bite?

Btw, nice cooler. Bet that thing ran you a good $35-40 bucks.

Great Catch!

I am the only person who just doesn't get the "take all the fish out the ice chest and throw them on the front of the boat" to take a picture thing?
Never understood why people do that.

I might be in the minority here but I rarely ever bring beer on a boat when I'm fishing in the heat. And big arse powerade bottles don't fit in koozies...

From the amount of shrimp in the guts of the fish I cleaned, I'm pretty sure that was a major reason. These fish were stuffed!

I teased him about it. But he likes it cause it fits perfectly between the side boxes of his front deck.

The old man religiously posts his reports on a fishing forum (that's how I met him) and likes to take pictures?

Seriously? Is there any harm in that?

Nope! Not at all.
Don't get me wrong, pictures like that look awesome.
It's more of a I don't want to dirty my boat more than it already is type of thing lol.
