Best Place to Tent Camp in or around BR ?

What Campgrounds are the best to Camp with my Sons ?

If car camping, just go to one of the state parks.
Within a few hours of BR, you have Bogue Chitto, Tickfaw, Chicot and Fausse Point.
A lot of the private campgrounds in Louisiana have too many permanent residents in mobile homes for my taste.

Under the Perkins overpass. You might have some company though.

A little bit farther, 90 miles, Grand Gulf state Park, Port Gibson Mississippi. Really Cool.

Fairview - Riverside State Park in Madisonville or Fontainebleau in Mandeville. Little over an hour from BR.

Chicot State Park near Ville Platte used to be set up very nice for tent camping. Had some privacy but amenities, like showers nearby. Beautiful lake. Haven't been in years though.

Clear Springs in Mississippi. About 2 hrs from BR.

Have you been to Clear Springs lately? I haven't been in a few years, and heard the place has gone downhill. Trails are now dangerous. Any input OB?

I looked at taking this bitch on a date to Tickfaw a while back. She wouldn't wear a thong bikini, so I brought her back home and nailed my ex's 20 year old coworker that night instead

Chicot with kids is a lot of fun. Space where you have privacy. Showers and shiiiiters close and if you get the tent pad slots there is power, wifi and cable so you can feel like you are in the real wilderness.

If you go to Chicot, get a site in the South Campground. The North Campground is more suited to large A Class RV's, etc. South CG has more hills with sites spread farther apart. The North Campground does have the better bathroom for taking showers. North showers are separate stalls, South showers are just a long open wall with 5-6 shower heads.
The attached LA State Arboretum has great shorter hiking trails for kids.
Watch out for the local racoon population. They are expert thieves.
