In a 17' bass boat. Especially someone will little knowledge.

best or closest?

i'd go with lake salvador for closest or lafitte for better action...i don't go west at all really though

Fourchon. Can launch at either the public launch or the Fourchon Marina launch and have a short run to the marsh or bay. On a calm day you can go to the mouth of Bayou Lafourche (Bell Pass) and fish the backside of the rocks in the Gulf. I saw a boat about that size this weekend and he was having no problem. Just watch weather and other very large boats when on the Bayou.
