Best outdoor TV antenna for a camp that sits on the Gulf?
Posted by LSUsmartass on 12/2/16 at 1:12 pm01
Looking for something that doesn't need to be replaced every 2 years due to the salt water eating it up.
An indoor antenna isn't an option due to metal roof.

I have a 4 door RCA one that picks up a bunch of stuff. It's an outdoor one I have mounted in the attic. Is this going to be mounted inside? How often is the camp used? Could you wrap a garbage bag around it when leaving to protect it? Most of them are aluminum so rust shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Look into tying it into your roof.

I had a huge antenna on my house that picked up stations from multiple cities. It was just a standard Yagi TV antenna and its mostly all aluminum. Take the nuts bolts were steel though. I bet if you coated the bolts and connections with liquid electrical tape or similar it would last many years even in the salt.
I just took mine down last night because it was broken in half by a tornado. Its well over 25 years old and was still working fine until the tornado got it.
