For some reason the LARPer in livingston parish who had a meth head break into his trailer comes to mind.

Guy broke in and had a bat, LARPer had fantasy weapons ALL over the house.

Meth head was airmedded out with a spear stuck in him if I remember right.

This might be one of the best responses in the history of the intranets.

A crossbow works for Daryl. Proper training is important.

Wasp spray is legit ! It also shoots farther than pepper spray and I believe you have to go to the hospital to get it flushed out. It will straight up blind somebody. Take a little and put it on your hand and leave there it burns like hell imagine that in your eyes.

Thank you! I had to drive alone to the airport in the middle of the night and I haven't got a permit, so I grabbed a can of wasp spray. I figured it's not illegal so I've got some protection but won't go to prison if I'm stopped for speeding or something. My husband gave me such a hard time about it, like it was the dumbest idea ever. I can't wait to tell him truckers do it too!

If you don't want to defend with lethal force, then I recommend you just prepare to cooperate. You can try tasers and whatnot, but you don't want to bring a taser, baton, golf club, baseball bat, etc., to a gun fight.
That's a high risk/low reward proposition.

This. All of this.

Out gunned = Out manned. Situation dependent, you never want to fight someone who you know would kick your arse, guaranteed, right?

ETA: No problem saying I've lost more fights than I've won, usually getting into stupid shite. But the life or death of me and my family, I pick life. Prepare accordingly.

If you are worried about ease of access then purchase a handgun safe. I have a pair and mounted them vertically to my bedframe under the bed skirt. Keep my kids out. Don't notice them either.

If he don't feel comfortable with a gun in the house, it's probably a good idea to not get one.

BUT op needs to research good handgun safes before dismissing the idea.
