1- woodduck
2- pintail
3- teal

I baked some pins for Christmas and the only difference I could find from a woodie is the pins are bigger.
Haven't eatin enough of em to move them to number one but damn they were good!! Muscovy would have to be 4th on my list. OB is king so what y'all think??

I cooked the pins the same way as woodies. Brown em on stove with the trinity and put em in the oven for a few hours. Put the rice cookin and pull the lid off of the birds to make the skin crispy. Eat duck

Any duck if you cook them down long enough to stop tasting like duck

Had some teal grilled once medium rare, pretty darn good but know one I knew would eat bloody ducks. I quit duck hunting for that reason , they suck. I have cleaned and baked Woodies , teal a ton of different ways and they are always still ducks.
Never saw a texan ever even try to clean one, they just pitch them in the dumpster.
Supposedly , aging them in the refrigerator in a brown bag, (guts in) for three weeks is the real deal. Breast Grilled like a ribeye after that.

I always preferred mallards. The taste of any of them always seemed to change depending on their diet. If you get a duck closer to the Mississippi where their diet is more corn and grain based versus the same species from the atlantic side where there diet was more acron based. Of I always hunted them in beaver swamps and not over vast farmlands.

Duck is great if you know how to cook them It is hard to make a mallard taste good though.

I like just about any duck that are swamp ducks not field ducks. Woodies, Teal, Gadwall, and Widgeon are my favorites. It's hard to cook wood duck and make it taste bad.

Teal in a gravy. Don't kill enough wood ducks to give them a fair evaluation

But specs are better than anything

Baked woodduck is hard to beat! I grew up hunting the swamp so that's perty much all I killed. I had a buddy take me on a few speck hunts and I'm gunna have to agree with you, they are the best
