Looking to change my CC gun to 9mm. Opinions from those that carry that caliber every day....looking for what everyone wants ...light, concealable, etc.
TIA
TIA

I pocket carry the Sig P238 cocked and locked with self defense rounds and never feel self conscious about whether people can tell I'm armed.
The P938 is a 9mm option but I have no qualms with the 380 and it is the perfect cc size for me. I use a Nemesis pocket holster.

MM,
You'll need to decide what features are important to YOU: striker vs DAO vs SAO, external safety lever vs no external safety lever, magazine disconnect safety or not, grip safety or not, etc. My EDC is a Kahr CW45, but if I were to change to 9mm, it'd be a Kahr CW9. Keep us updated.

I carry a PPS and love it. Wife has the Shield. She likes it and I have no complaints on how it shoots.

The vast majority of people will say get the Shield. They are right

I'm not sure if I had a lemon or if it was operator error but I couldn't shoot my shield for shite. I mean realllllllllll bad. I struggled to hit a can at 10 steps every time.

Glock 19.
I had one bound around in a pelican case full of tools for a few years. Every tool in there rusted from the condensation. I pulled it, cleaned the frame up a bit and removed a few gouges. Gun shot great.

Glock 19. Arguably the best all around 9mm ever created. Carries just as well as the sub compact 9's. Shoots a hell of a lot better.

Pretty soon I'm going to make an all inclusive 9mm CC thread.. maybe I can get my first stickied thread

Were you switching between extended and regular mags every time? That fricks me up with a lot of guns

Unsung, Walther PPS in 9MM. Check it out.

IGchris pretty much nailed the big players in the single stack subcompact realm. All of those are pretty solid options.
Here's a bookmarked post I did about single stack carry guns a while back:
___________________
I encounter this all the time and my reasoning is this...
I can't reasonably expect the average concealed carrier to carry something slightly less comfortable.
Sure, people like most people you find on this board would have no problem concealing a double stack compact. Hell, I have an M&P9c in my rotation that holds a nice 12+1 capacity. But for me to expect the average person to carry the same gun with the same level of slight discomfort isn't reasonable. If I point them to something that they can conceal easier they may be more likely to carry. And I would rather more good people be armed than leaving the gun at home. I make sure to stress that a larger gun is easier to shoot though, no matter how marginal that difference is. This leads me to my next point.
This also opens the cans of worms of smaller, thinner guns being more difficult to shoot, as you pointed out. But looking at FBI crime statistics and the Department of Justice's study on defensive handguns, I can reasonably believe that the trigger won't be pulled anyway.
One should never carry without the psychological and physical ability to be able to pull the trigger. But that doesn't mean that every scenario warrants a trigger pull. If a purse is snatched and the dude is hauling arse there's no reason to shoot. If there is a knife to a love one's throat, you can bet your arse you should shoot, but you may not have a clear shot. The possible scenarios are endless.
Ask anyone who has shot someone in self defense if they would rather have fewer rounds. When talking about guns on an equal playing field in terms of size (say a subnose 38 versus single stack 9mm), I'm going with the one that gives me more ammo every single day of the week. This is also the reason I favor the M&P Shield over the Glock 43. The reason I don't own the Shield is that I purchased the CM9 before the Shield had been released and it has been a great gun for me.

Most of these semi automatics will hold 7 rounds and the revolver holds 5 rounds. Not that big of a difference.
