Best Color Braided Line

I was just given a bunch of spiderwire ultra-cast ultra braid line 50lb test but it's bright yellow. Is this going to be a problem for top water and flipping? If it is then what's the best color braid to use or does it even make a difference?

I like dark green the best. You can always take a permanent green marker and color the last 3-4 feet if you don't like the yellow.

I have some color braid. Just tie on a couple foot of 25# mono leader.

It used to be that I was Mr. Stealthy using green braid. A guide put me on to yellow line and I really like it. I use 2-3 feet of fluorocarbon shock leader anyway. I just bought a new reel and got a spool of florescent yellow and love that even more. Give it a try.

Doesn't matter what color your braid is, so long as you use it in the right applications.

Used to do that.
Changed to Big Game green 12# and I catch way more fish.
Only use braid on a few lines now.

I know you're just being MeauxJeaux with this comment but I used to be that way too. Switched a few lines to fluourocarbon and I've noticed a difference in quantity of fish, and catching them where I couldn't previously.

i have braid on every rod. All 12#
I use mono backer for 1/4 of the spool capacity and use flouro leader.
I like the casting qualities of braid and on my baitcasters if there is a reel overspool then picking the backlash out is a snap with braid.
Also like the strenght of braid and don't have memory like other lines.

I don't flip with braid, but i do fish with frogs using green. When it fades, I use a permanent marker to add the color back to it. Don't see why you couldn't do that with yellow. Just mark up the line several feet, and it should work.

Yep, and I find I get fewer backlashes. The lack of stretch means you don't get the spring effect when casting (the line initially stretches on the cast and then contracts, causing the reel to speed up relative to the lure/line speed).

I'm curious what you mean by that? It does have a tendency to loop around things rather easily if your using a technique that has periods of slack. Otherwise, I have not had any issues with it picking up debris relative to mono.
Braid is generally considerably slicker than mono, that's why it doesn't hold certain knots as well and why it can slip on the reels where mono doesn't.

I read a tip from a pro bass guy the other day.
He said to use bright braid to make it easier to detect bites. He takes a sharpie, cuts a notch in it, and he colors the last ten feet or so black.
I haven't tried it yet but it makes sense to me.

Thinking about that for one of those. The others are spincast reels for the kids/wife or one spinning I have for my wife to bream fish. Gonna stick with cheap mono on those.

4lb is amazing to cast, but you really need to baby it and retie often. 6lb is the better overall size imho.

I fished braid 2 years. When pitching in certain grass, like reeds it would get hung up.
When I started fishing mono again I started with 1 rod. I caught more every time, same with trout fishing. Not sure why, but the results were there.
I fish about 3 weekends every month and some trips like Toledo we are there at least 3 days.
