Which 1911's do you recommend I go take a look at? Not looking to break the bank but definitely don't want trash.

I've been eyeing the Ruger SR1911 for a while... Anyone of you have one?

TIA

I don't have one, but that is, perhaps, the consensus pick for your topic - at least "conventional wisdom."

Ruger doesn't usually "jump" into anything. That is why they tend to have a product that is competitive in the best performance/price of almost any category of firearm - and this has been true for some time.

I don't have one but a good friend who's an extreme 1911 fan recently purchased a Rock Island Armory (Armscor) 1911 and was blown away by how much he likes it. This man has many 1911's in multiple configurations, finishes and qualities and he's been bragging to me about the fit and finish of the Rock Island for weeks.

They can be had from the mid $400's and up, depending on model, on gun broker right now.

ETA: But also, as others have said, you can't go wrong with an SR1911 either.

My friend has a RIA 1911 and that thing has been abused and never fails. It's incredible.

I don't have the Ruger and haven't played with one either but I do have a Colt Delta Elite and a Springfield Champion.

I say that because I also have a Para Ordinance Expert Commander that I love. Trigger is almost as good at the Colt and way better than the Springfield. It's accurate as it can be (way more so than I am) and it was under $500 at Academy.

If you want an American made 1911 there is no better value than the Ruger line of 1911's

If you just want the best cheapest 1911 RIA is the brand to look at

Just be careful in this quest, I once walked in to get an SR1911 and left with a Dan Wesson Guardian.
