I see they closed the road going through. Will they be opening the locks this year.

Said last week they didn't think it would be necessary.

I flew over it today. The river is all the way to the levee in Kenner already. I bet they end up opening it again.

It's common for water to flow through the spillway and it not open. that said I haven't looked for a long term forecast.

Forecast is showing a crest a little below 17, which should keep it under the CFS threshold for opening.

Many years ago I went crawfishing in there after it had flooded with some friends. I believe it was flooding from seepage from the locks and not from a full opening.

It was near the end of the season but we caught plenty and they were still soft I imagine from the colder river water. We just drove the dirt roads between airline and the locks setting bets in the pits or remaining ponds.

Is this yearly and when would be the time to go? Thanks

News said they were doing a trial (test) run but as far as fully opening they said they do not believe it will be necessary this year.
