If anybody is thinking about applying for a permit (or needs to renew his permit), it looks like I may have two or three seats open for my June 21 Concealed Handgun Permit class.

My wife wants a CCW. If I pay you double can you just mail us a cert because she don't want to sit through no class. She's a busy woman

No problem -- but I will need her VISA card number (and )security code, her SS # and bank account access info.
p.s. It would also be nice if she can provide account info with passwords for any 401-K accounts y'all might have.

Does she even plan on carrying, or does she just want the class because all of her girlfriends have taken it?
If she doesn't intend on carrying, taking a regular firearms class would be so much better.
And for the love of God, please bring her to shoot BEFORE the class date!!

I've taken dawg's class and it is very informative. Literally anyone could pick up a few things regardless of experience. Even if you are not sure about carrying a concealed weapon this class would be beneficial. Very fair pricing and no steps are skipped.

Thanks for the kind words.

Now, as promised, I'll have to send you a new gun as payment for saying nice things about my class. Would you prefer a Kimber or a Colt ?

dawg, how much experience do you recommend for one to not need personal lessons?

You should at the very least know how to load your firearm and shoot a target before taking the class.
I just see too many people going through the class thinking it's a "how to shoot a firearm" class. It's scary that these people are going from "never shot a gun" to "licensed to carry" in a 9 hour period.

Hell I can handle that Been around guns/hunting my whole life but haven't owned a pistol until about a year ago. I may not be able to out-draw Eastwood, but I can handle the thing

As was noted, you need to be able to safely load and safely handle your handgun (not pointing it yourself or any people, etc.).
As far as accuracy -- if you can hit your microwave oven from across your kitchen, you'll be fine. The live-fire portion of the class requires you to hit a man-sized target 36 times from distances of 6 feet, 10 feet and 15 feet (12 shots at each distance).

Still have availability? What time does the class start?

Sorry for being so slow to reply.
As you and I discussed, class starts at 7:30 -- I know that's a little early, but it helps get us out of class at a reasonable time of day.
I have you enrolled. (Supposed to hear from another OB'er tomorrow a.m. to get him enrolled.)

Is there anyone that you would recommend in the NOLA area?

Any spots still open? If so you got an email?

Yes - actually have two seats open.
Go to my redneck website (www.personaldefensetraining.com) for my email and phone contact info.
At the webiste, please review the page entitled "Courses." This class is different from most CCW classes -- (a) we don't really spend time on "How to shoot" and (b) everyone needs to plan on shooting a "service caliber" handgun [minimum claibers = 9mm//.38 Special] unless there's a medical condition that would make you have to shoot a smaller caliber).
Give me a call if you'd like to attend -- you'd be the third OB'er in this class.
