$99 Lews is the best on the market for the money. Lews in general are damn good reels! They have a new $85 reel out now but no reports yet on how well is performs or last.

Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier and Lew's are are a lot of reel for the money.
Shimano, Diawa and ABU Garcia Revo are excellent but you pay for it.

13 concept reels yet

I haven't held one personally. I know a few guys that get them at a discounted price and have gotten mixed reviews from them. I do know I'm skeptical about the durability of a cork reel handle.

These are all reels I figured would be mentioned with the exception of 13 concept since I never heard of it.

The bigger question for me now is what brand rod?

I just started using the duckett ghost. Cost $99. My favorite rod ive used to date.

Looking for cheaper? Can never go wrong with a tourny special

When you want to know what the best gear is check out the minor league BASS and FLW and see what those guys are using. They have to pay for their own gear so they want it to be priced right and durable. A lot of them fish Lews reels on a Duckett rod.

Correct. There is only a slight difference in Lews and Abu Garcia. Lews cast a little further but abu garcia is more durable imo. They are the best two for price tho.

I have to disagree with you here. I have not done anything to my Lews but clean them. I had to change out the pawns on the Garcias tot he ceramic because they but the metal pawns in the cheaper reels. I do like the flipping feature on the Garcia though.

For the cost, lews can't be beat. You can cast them things a mile and they haven't let me down yet. I've even caught reds and specks on them and no problems.

I've always been a Pfleuger man, but I'm switching over to Lews.... best reel on the market and you can get a REALLY good reel for @$100...
