Beautiful mature bald eagle seen yesterday on side of river road a mile or so before Robertos. Man that is a cool looking bird!

You just dont realize how big they are until you see them flyin low... Huuuggggge wing spans... I've seen one swoop down on a lake bank to snatch up a tiny possum.

Yes and this one must have been a male because he was huge. He was just standing in small ditch. A guy had stopped to take a pic and was standing no more than 10 ft away and eagle was not scared at all.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to shite on your thread at all.
I had never seen a bald eagle until about 13 or so years ago. I see them ALL the time now. All over around at our camp and even at work in the plant. They have made a huge comeback.

I saw one eating roadkill on the side of Hwy. 90 last Friday. Always cool to see them in person

There was one circling the woods behind my house near Tiger Bend a few weeks ago. Haven't seen it since.

If youre around Plaquemine/White Castle there are a good amount of them near the river. Very cool seeing them in person

I love listening to them whistle back and forth to each other. I see multiple on pretty much every body of water almost every time I go fishing the last few years. I've gotten some pretty good phone pics over the years.

Females are larger than males, as is the case with many raptors.

A couple years ago a friend had one land on her second story balcony rail that faces the water on Lake Conroe in Texas. Her big ole cat was out there and when she saw it come down she rushed outside and held the door open so her cat could escape inside. She told me that eagle turned as if he was going to fly inside her house in pursuit so she ran back inside and shut the door behind her. She was in awe of the size of it!!! Later she found out later there was a nest a block from her house.

And to think Ben Franklin said that the USA's bird should be the turkey because it is a stately bird. LOL Franklin you crazy!
