Awesome photos.

I have a couple serious questions:

1. Why are bonefish called "bonefish"?
2. Are bonefish any good to eat as table fare goes?

I only ask, because I have zero knowledge of those species and would love to add that to my bucket list. I'm not much on trophies...I like to eat what I catch (if it's good).

I really don't know. Perhaps they should call them assholes, because that's a painfully accurate descriptor.

As far as tablefare, I've never eaten one and doubt I will. Bahamians think they're pretty good to eat, but foreigners keeping them is frowned upon by both locals and the fly fishing community.

Theyre bonefish because of all the tiny bones they have in them. Theyre horrible to eat, but a blast to catch.

Looks like a blast.

Kalik is an excellent beer.

I went on a 10 day diving trip and we staged off Bimini Island down there. One of the most memorable things I've ever done.

Sweet pics! Is that's Ty who used to be on Chas's vids all the time? Haven't seen him on any in a good while. They still boys?

Looks like a great time. My grandparents lived in Inagua for their working life as my papaw was managing Morton Salt there. My family has open invitation to stay in a 2 story house for free with full cook and cleaning staff at least once a year. We just have to purchase a plane ticket. We haven't been in 5 years, but seeing this makes me want to go back.

Kalik is a great beer.

Yep. We're all good friends. Chas is a little older than Ty and me though.

I grew up with Chas. When we were growing up we played baseball together and we were both the only kids our age who had our own boats. We both had 15' flat boats with side consoles and fishing platforms. Used to have 2 boat night tourneys under the lights in eden isles. Used to fish or go kneeboarding in the back canals during the day.

This trip looks awesome, but I have to ask, what's the allure of bonefish? Are they hard to target? All I know about them is they are poor table fare. I'm curious

They're hard as hell to catch, especially wading, and especially without a guide. They're one of the most sought after fish in saltwater fly fishing for that reason. Up there with permit, tarpon, and now redfish. Redfish being the easiest by far.
