they usually have MSO's not titles. I am assuming he means that. every state is different, usually depends on if you need to have a tag for it on government lands. My guess is in almost every state in the south, no

manufacture statement of origin.

People are used to asking for a title to make sure it's not stolen. He can get it checked by the police and you can offer a bill of sale.

I bought a used 4-wheeer last year to leave at the camp--I live in La, guy lived in Ms. He had the Title, but it was in the previous owners name bc he never transferred it. I called to confirm it wasn't stolen, then paid him and went about my business. Till haven't transferred the title to myself.

*Usually* the state will issue a title after the sales tax is paid. If you paid sales tax to your dealer and never received a title then the dealer owes you one, or if you bought out of state and never went to the DMV to pay the tax then you owe a lot of late fees.

ATVs in Louisiana have had titles since the 80s.

Why not get one?

MS and LA title em. If you want a title, ole boy will have to get a title and pay his sales tax, then you pay sales tax on this sale and get a title. Just get a cop buddy to run VIN, no theft reports, then buy it and drive it till the wheels fall off.

While you should have a title, you don't really NEED one.

None of my old hondas have one. I think two of my yamahas do.

Not a big deal unless you intend to sell to a dealer.

You've got to pay it off before you get the title. Lol

This thread brings up an interesting question.

My wife was given her Dad's Yamaha Big Bear 4x4. It's just taking up space in the garage now. We weren't given the title (he lives in Lafayette, we live in Huntsville, Alabama). If we were to sell it to an individual does anyone know if we need a title to sell it here since it was originally bought (and I assume titled in La)? I can call a dealership if I plan on trading it in. Also, if I can't sell it outright as a complete assembly/bike...can I sell it as parts without a title?

I just bought used Yamaha wolverine Friday,if I had asked for a title, the seller would have laughed at me.4 wheelers don't need titles in Alabama. I have bought and sold many of them, and I have never even seen a 4 wheeler title.

Also, I might be interested in that ATV,if it is a manual transmission, that is,if you have it in Alabama now.

It's a 1999 and yes it's a manual (didn't know they made automatics)

And yes, it's in Huntsville now.
