those bastards

quote:

Some ammunition that was previously exempted as “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes,” specifically 5.56mm constituent projectiles of SS109 and M855 cartridges, will again be regulated as “armor piercing ammunition.

I am however unsure if this is all 5.56 or green tip 5.56. It's unclear.

Seems clear they are talking about M855/SS109 ammo.

Mine are zeroed on 55gr M193. More ranges are not allowing M855 for whatever dumb reasons they come up with. I have about 1000rds of M855, guess I'll be holding onto it for a while. I also guess they will preemptively ban M855A1.

I prefer 55gr FMJ also, but this is a really childish move on ATF's part.

Its got a steel core, which allows it to punch through steel. A lot of people don't like to replace steel targets because they are expensive. This ammo shouldn't really hurt an ar500 steel target but it could crater it and cause issues.

Seriously - how much 5.56 do I need? (And, yeah, buddy, I'm still balking at paying $0.12 a round for mini-mags - and I blame you/curse your name - hopefully you feel good about that )

Most indoor ranges don't allow it because too many jackasses can't shoot, and hit the floors, ceiling, and walls. The steel core tears up concrete faster than lead core.

Thats steep! Cabelas has them routinely for $7.95/100

And there are so many more on this boarrd that were worse. I'm the only one that spoke about it though

Shipping included, or are we talking about having to buy 1 box at a time and pay $3 shipping?

Doesn't really matter by the time I get the slickguns email, and get to the site, they're "sold out".

They "let" me buy a box of 100 for $12 when I bought my 10/22.

More like a little mild steel slug sitting on a lead base at the tip. Mild steel which differs from the hardened tool steel core of M2AP .30-06.
