Armada or Tahoe

I need a new 4wd vehicle to pull 8400 lbs. I am looking at the 2017 Tahoe (with max trailer in package) and the 2017 Armada. Any thoughts on reliability, or preferences?

If you could put the Nissan 5.6 in the Tahoe you'd have the best of both worlds. Nissan always seems to undersize transmissions and rearends in their trucks and they've had problems in the past. Don't know if the Armada gets any upgrades from the new Titans though.

I work for a Chevy dealership, and usually drive a Tahoe Z71 as my demo. Always put leveling kit, 33" tires, and because it includes the 3.42 axle ratio, always has plenty of pulling power, and real life, overall 18mpg.
Economically, the Armada usually does poor as far as resale value.

I would go with the tahoe based on looks and resale value but damn it would be hard to spend $45-50k on a mid tier model. It's hard to believe how expensive those things are now... Pretty much priced out the middle class.

I was wrong, y'all.

Tahoes aren't unibody unless they changed it since the new model came out which i doubt

Tahoe's are unibody construction, Armada is body-on-frame like an actual truck. For towing I'd go with the Armada.
False

Tahoe. The most reliable motor on the market in that class.

Do they still make the 3/4 ton suburbans? Those are some badass rigs.

Sorry, I was remembering wrong. When we chose between the Tahoe/Armada back in 2012/11 it was a discussion I remember having. It was why we considered the '11 Tahoe, because rumor/sales were saying the redesign was to be unibody. Glad it didn't happen. Carry on....

Sequoia too rich for your blood?

Maybe so. Too bad the rest of the vehicle will fall apart almost immediately.

I'm pretty sure they do. I know I've seen a couple rolling around here. IIRC, they came with the 8.1

I rent one for work all the time, and it drives so smooth. I just could never afford one though. Especially the Z71.

She's never used it to pull anything but my sister has had her Armada for nine years and says it is the best vehicle that they have ever owned.

You would think so...but every soccer mom in my neighborhood drives one. $50k for a vehicle just isn't that much these days. Its hard for me to fathom.

Oh it is, just that many dumb people living to the edge of their means.
