I've caught a few of these along the beach, but was told they aren't any good so I let them go.

Nope, throw the pompano back. No reason to use the pompano rig either.

It's some synthetic bait from the local tackle shop. Half caught on that and the rest on shrimp

Going to Navarre in a couple weeks. Gonna bring the rod and buy a couple rigs and test my luck.

FishBites, come in different colors. Will need braid scissors to get off hook.

Take it and deep fry it. Everyone knows that's the best way to prepare pompano.
