AR-15 purchase tips

So if one was looking to buy a lightly used, ready to go AR-15 from La Sportsman what would he need to look for?. Any brands to just totally avoid? Seems prices are about $700-1000 depending on extras and brand. Is this a dumb move? Should I buy new?

Buy new. AR's are too plentiful right now. You won't pay much more, if any, for one off the shelf

That doesn't seem true.

You want a brand new in box Bushmaster C-15 AR? I have a friend selling his. Never fired, comes with a red dot and a Pmag. I think he wants $775

Colt is not what it used to be by a long shot. There QC sucks arse and customer service turnaround time on simple shite is 10-12 weeks. They lost my 9mm AR sent back for service work.

What do you recommend in that price range, then?

Armalite M15
Your not going to have many people recommend this one to you. It is probably the best Less than 1k gun avaliable. The fit and finish is second to none and the have the best standard single stage trigger on any AR I have ever shot. You also get a Key mod handguard.

Where does your friend live?

The important thing to remember when buying an AR is to not be brand-myopic. There are TONS of good options out there. Be skeptical if someone tells you, "Colt or nothing!" because it isn't true.
Ruger, S&W, BCM, Daniel Defense, Rock River, Armalite, Spikes just to name a few.

Nah, we got cleaned out the the Monday and Tuesday after Orlando

Just make sure you avoid AR's with polymer lowers. After sandy hook, a lot of people were buying these because that is all they could find at a decent price. I've seen several polymer lowers fracture.
