I always find I have a half full tank when doing a crawfish boil.

Any ace hardware, aren't you near Abita? Backroads Mercantile on 21 does for sure.

Google ace hardware or tractor supply. They both do refills.

Ace in Madisonville on 21 refills tanks. They check the date stamped on the collar, so don't bring an old one.

U-Haul typically has propane refills I thought.

Buy a second tank. You're paying for a whole tank refill every time you bring a half

Yup, I have like 5 or 6 tanks. Always have a couple extra and I hate going to get propane.

Next house will have natural gas or a propane tank buried.

Not if you go to ace or somewhere to top it off.

Not sure who will be open on Easter but ace on 190 has it. Larrys I believe has it.

All the hardware stores that I've refilled at always charged by the pound. If they are charging you by tank size everytime don't go there anymore. That's a ripoff.

My Tractor Sply doesn't do this. The dude just tells my how many gallons to the tenth and I go inside to pay.

I used to get them refilled at the U-haul. Old fricker was charging my a flat $20/cyl whether it was half empty or not. TS is like $11 for five full gallons. Oh, and I've never had them check for any dates on my bottles. Think I'm just lucky though.

Tractor Supply charges by the gallon. I sometimes take 3 or 4 almost empty tanks to get filled. The guy gives me a slip of paper with the total # of gallons. Go inside and pay $1.99 a gallon. Completely empty tank costs $9 plus tax to refill.

I'd never had a tank checked until the Ace opened in Madisonville. Both of mine were only a couple of years old, so I didn't care at the time. But I think a bottle is only good for 7 or 8 years, then it needs to be decertified.

There's a place in Folsom on the west side of Hwy 25, just north of 40, that refills propane bottles. I got checked there, too.

I heard the work-around is to take the OOD cyl and then do the blurhino exchange thing. Won't do that until/if they start giving me a hard time though.

That's when it's time to swap it out at Wal-Mart or another store where they don't know or care. I picked up what looked like a 20 year old tank on a trash pile and swapped it out at CVS for a new one. Home Depot has self serve tank exchange.

I don't know what the re-certification cost is. I know I can buy a new 20# bottle for $25 or $30. If I'm going to start stealing, it needs to be for more money than that.

The tank swap company's like Blue Rhino also do re-certification. Doesn't cost them a dime and they rip you off by under filling the tanks. Who's the one stealing

"All propane tanks better known as cylinders are subject to re-certification if it has been 12 years or more since the tanks were manufactured. The re-certification process is a simple test performed by a certified propane retailer that ensures your cylinder is still safe to carry propane."
