I'm going tomorrow for the first time with a coworker whose been trying to talk me into going with him for months and I finally agreed. We're arriving in Galveston tomorrow morning and should be on the water by 7am. He told me he normally rows out anywhere from a half mile to a mile off shore and usually catches 4-6 foot black tips and bulls using cow nose stingray. Brings them up close enough to get a good look then cuts the line. Am I going to die?

I wouldn't worry about the sharks, but who the eff wants to row that far out. God invented engines for a reason. Just remember to bring your judge with you in case things get out of hand.

Duct tape some flippers to your yak to give the silhouette of a large marine mammal...it'll really make you blend in and you can sneak up on dem sharks.

Getting dead is one of my bigger fears. That, and heights. I suppose they're somewhat related.

I see.

I would do it if there was a way to guarantee you wouldn't catch a bull shark.
