Not worth the risk of getting them in your attic

They have gotten into my HOUSE thru the chimney twice. They are around anyway.
I back up to a creek and have had coons in my attic as well. Trapped them to extinction judging by not having trash all over the yard and not having a trap in months.

Read and follow the directions and they should work. Good luck.

How do you keep the guinea wasps and Japanese wasps from building a big nest inside of those bat houses?

I haven't built one but I've had the plans to build one forever. Set them up away from your house though. They say the mess from bat shite is crazy (pun intended). I've also read that it takes a while for them to move in but they will eventually.

I need to dig up those plans again and get to it.

I'm planning on putting up a few this winter. The reading I have done says they are most likely to move in during spring so I figure I'll put them up this winter and hopefully avoid wasps making nests in them before the bats move in.

We had bats swirling all around the house last night in Lafayette. I've thought about putting up houses, but they seem to do ok without them.

What are these bat houses? Any particular ones work better than others? Do they need to be put up in a particular area like martin houses?

My dad wouldn't tolerate bats close to or on the house. He said they had "chinches" on em and the chinches would get in the house if bats roosted on the chimney or on the house. When he was a kid, for entertainment, he and his brothers would take a 16' bamboo fishing pole, tie a small bream hook with a piece of thread on it to the end of the line and go out and swing that baited hook around and around when the bats came out that evening. Called it bat fishing. That was back during the depression days.

That one seems rather close to the ground. Seems like a rat snake and other predators would love that.
