My wife has been interested on buying one of these and I was wondering if anyone on here has one or knows someone who has one. Her reason for wanting this breed is it does not shed, but does need to be groomed. Anyone have any advice?

Yea a know...designer mutt, but I guess it is better than a toy yorkie.

I have a golden doodle. GREAT family dog. Does not retrieve at all. Loves the water. Never aggressive at all. Let's my kids do anything to her and never moves. Very obedient. She does shed a little though. Mostly noticeable around her kennel and in the car. Does not irritate people with dog allergies. Since it is a mix, it's a genetic crap shoot though. Some shed more some less. Some are more like poodles some more like golden. I have my dog groomed every two weeks at $45 and cut a couple times a year at $75. Coat is beautiful and very soft. I would buy another one for sure.

Great dog. Best friend have one. Love the boat & lake, great with kids, smart. Trains easy. Groom 4 times a year. Highly recommend as well as a standard poodle, giant schnauzer or newfoundland.

My wife wants one, but we only adopt dogs from the shelters so odds are pretty low we'll ever get one.

we have a smaller schnauzer now and we like that he does not shed. We wanted something a little bit bigger that would hopefully play with my 6 year old son. thanks for the replies.

Wife and I have two. Great family dogs. Easily trainable, great with kids, minimal to no shedding. One loves to play fetch.

We get them groomed once a month.

Highly recommend.

You would be surprised. There are websites that are dedicated to re-homing Golden Doodles, otherwise they are headed to the shelter.

Most of those folks just didn't understand what having a dog entails.

You can probably pick one up for free if you're willing to give it a good home.

Have the names of any of them? My wife has been looking on a few sites, but they're usually adopted pretty quick when she sees them. I didn't know they had sites for Goldendoodles.

No shedding is completely worth it in my opinion.

Have one, SIL has another. Great dogs that are all love and manners. They love the water and are extremely smart.

Got 2 standard poodles and they kick arse. Smartest dogs on earth

Look at a double doodle too. Labradoodle and Goldendoodle parents

LOL. Only because that coat is the original swiffer. Picks up everythjng from outside and brings it in. Also she loves to jump in the pool then roll in the dirt to try to dry off. Finally, I'm too lazy to do it myself

Could try and find a spanador (cocker spaniel/yellow lab).
My brother and I had one when young, could do anything to or with it.

Thanks, that one is ours. He's "red" and not a 50/50 Golden/Poodle. Both of his parents were goldendoodles.

I tried to groom my Welsh Terrier early on. That wire coat would ruin a blade in no time. I eventually gave up.

My daughter's boyfriend's parents have one. He hates it and says it's prissy. Seems like an ok dog, doesn't shed but damn she's a mess when she's dirty. I'll stick with Labs.

SIL has one. doesn't shed, doesn't usually stink, loves water and to retrieve, can fit in my pirogue and not make it flip.
superior to a lab in every way so far that I've found

I heard when you get one of these it is a crapshoot with shedding. They can potentially shed 100% like a Golden Retriever, or 0% like a Poodle

I think that's true. Ours has more poodle than golden. Don't quite remember the parent's makeup but whatever it is pointed to the no shedding more than shedding.
