on our second one. Love it, has 10,000 towing capacity- I pull a big boat. It is powerful, fast, rides great, dependable- handles good, SO loves it

Gas mileage 13 in town - that is the downside the big block engine is not easy on gas- but pulling the boat I see little change in gas mileage

It is a guys suv built on Titan frame and SO loves it

in 2016 it will move to the Infiniti platform which is no longer the truck frame- expect a big jump in price in 2016

My wife got creamed by one last year. It tore the hell out of my wife's vehicle and did little damage to the Armada. Other than that I have no experience.

Wife got the qx clone

No real issues except that battery has to be replaced w every 2 yrs, think they fixed whatever was causing it though

Buy a pre owned Infiniti IMO

I am not familiar with Nissan engines. What is their big block motor?

9000 with the platinum 4wd model, otherwise around 7-8k. Still on the upside for full size SUV. My bro in law tore his ring and pinion towing on his qx.

As far as towing, a truck is going to be better and have better second row room(crew cab) but if you need that third row it's great. I was a little less than impressed on the interior though. I'd still rate the tahoe/Yukon as better interior comfort.

Wife has a 09. We love it. Never been in the shop. It will pull anything within reason. You should already know about the MPG. So it shouldn't matter. I'm about to purchase a newer model.

5.6L V 8 DOHC with Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) variable valve timing

Horsepower 317 hp @ 5,200 rpm
Bore and Stroke 98 x 92 mm
Features: 9.8:1 compression, 32-valve DOHC, 6,000 rpm redline, aluminum block and cylinder heads

I

Torque 385 lb-ft of torque @ 3,400 rpm Good bottom end torque

TOWING

our 2008 had towing cap. of 9600 with towing pkg

Recent years they have downgraded the rating to 9100 not sure why as this is essentially the same vehicle

This is the platinum level, the base models have lower towing as they do not have the towing pkg( tran cooler, ClassIII heavy rated hitch, different axle ratio , towing button that causes shift changes at different RPMS, air shocks etc)

In case you want to drag race:

Some sights have the Armada and qx doing 5.5s 0-60mph
Even the nissan armada 4x4 clocks at 6.7 s 91 mph

Run the quarter under 15- not bad for a near 3 ton vehicle
14.9 qtr
Engine has a nice roar to it and lots of punch when you need to pass

Man we were set on getting one in October. Had a platinum picked out. Light blue , tan leather, captain chairs in mid row , tv's in head rest , sunroof etc. but my wife drives 50 miles round trip for work and that old 5.6 just sucks gas down. So I showed her a platinum pathfinder with all the bells and whistles and she loved it so we got that. Did number crunching on gas I'm saving about 3-4k a year in gas. Pathfinder was in 45k range and armada was 48. Before ttl. Pathfinder has been great wt plenty of room for a family of four on Lon trips, groceries, hell I'm in Dallas right now and even put my lab in the back wt pet porter plus our junk. Third row folds down easy and Bose system and ac seats r great. Very nice inside and comfortable. Quick FYI. Gets 21-22 in city armada is 12-13. And comes wt towing package. It's got some power. My truck tows the big stuff.

The engine is a really good and really strong engine but it isn't a big block.

A 5.6 liter is less than 350 cubic inches
What is considered a big block starts around 400 cubic inches.

We are interested in the pathfinder but worried about the smaller size of it with two car seats. We have a Yukon now

They are a 10 year old design, get awful gas mileage, and generally are unreliable by most auto media accounts. I'd stead clear personally...unless you can get its Infiniti cousin. Wouldn't buy used either.

Looks like there are issues with the brakes...could be pre-2007 models only. Even still, 2 stars is no bueno.

I agree. The OP should look at a Tahoe or Expedition. Recent upgrades have boosted their fuel economy while still providing great power to pull with. Also in the long run both vehicles will likely keep their value better.

Sequoia is better than either the Ford or Government Motors selections.

I haven't owned an armada, but when I worked in the car business we had a lot of rear end issues with that type of Nissan platform. If you want a large suv Tahoe is the best on the market right now followed by the sequoia. If You could do with a slightly smaller vehicle the Durango or grand Cherokee is the best buy imo. If you need third row go Durango if not go grand Cherokee. The Durango will tow 7400lbs with the hemi and is much easier to drive than the larger SUVs. They have one of the top rated interiors and the Durango will save you almost 10k over a similarly equipped Tahoe. I own a Durango and it gets about 18 city 24 hwy. make sure it's is a 14 or newer model. The older models weren't much to look at.
