Anyone have a guess on how old this turtle is?

We caught this in a creek near Centreville yesterday. My guess was that he was about 50lbs.

We didn't cook him, he was released unharmed. We were way back in the woods and only had a 4 wheeler.

Nobody knows. The literature says (from limited studies) they all grow to about 30 lbs in the first 8-10 yrs, then after that it's extremely variable.

There are little groves in their lower jaw. There is a grove for each year. Next time, run your finger along the inside of lower jaw.
