I found some info a while back on a program 9 not sure if La specific or not) where the dept of Ag will pay part of the cost to redo or build new livestock ponds. Another program was you submit soil samples and they would suggest a type of legume to plant and assist in paying for it.

I cant find the info anywhere now.

That's true.

I looked into the pine planting deal where they put up half the money. The stipulation is you can't cut it for 10 years. If 3 or 4 years later I want to bush hog a new area to put a food plot, I can't do it on my own land because of the deal.

F that.

Yea ive heard a bunch of people bitch about CRP for some of the same reasons. I don't believe this is any contract that spans over time. They just come in and tell you how to do your pond and pay 50% of the cost and they'll help you plant a legume ( clover to replace nitrogen ) in your soil. I was planning on maybe skipping that and just lease out to a soybean farmer.

They aren't overly vigilant on checking up on your activities, that's been my experience anyways..

Conservation Stewardship Program is what I mentioned in the previous (post). (CSP)
