If so, how are they as pets?

They are cute little bastards and my wife and kids want to get one.

Annoying as frick. The screeching would make me want to kill myself. They seem like a lot of work. Don't do it.

I've done a little research and it does show they need a lot of work.

Just get a real dog. Those exotic animals are not worth the time. Maybe your wife and kids will take care of it for a week or two then it gets old really quick. They are not meant to be pets for the average family. It really is a bad idea.

Do you know anyone who has one of these things?

Nope. I too did a ton of research a long time ago thinking it would be cool to get one. Glad I did the research.

I don't know about fennecs particularly, but one thing to consider about foxes is they have a pretty loud smell too. It's almost like mild skunk. Maybe they remove the glands in pets, I don't know. If not, they're quite smelly.
