Anyone ever been to El Salto?

I've been twice. It's alot of fun. The first year we caught crazy numbers, but nothing big. 2nd trip we had much bigger fish, but not as many. Those fish are strong and there are alot of old trees to get hung up in.

I usually take 4 or 5 reels. 20 lb flouro and maybe 1 or 2 with braid for top water.

You can catch them in pretty much anything. The guides know what they are doing and it's simple if you just do what they suggest. They like for you to use plastics. I think because they don't like getting hooked. 8 inch watermelon red lizard,big words. Used heavier weights because we were fishing deeper. They love to dye your baits also so take a jar of the chartreuse dye.

The crankbait bite can be awesome when you run across the right group of fish. Citrus shad is a popular color. 3 xd and 6 xd should cover you.

If I remember right the top water bite is awesome that time of year (I went in the spring). So take plenty of those. Spooks, etc.

We also did pretty good on soinnerbaits in the evening when it got windy.

They will search everything at the mazatlan airport. I don't know if you are a tobacco user or not, but don't bring a carton of cigarettes or rolls of tobacco because they will tax the crap out of you. It's better to have the packs already opened. I checked all my equipment. Some guys put their clothing in a carry-on to cut down on weight.

I've only been with ron speed so I can't talk about your outfitter. You can check Ron speeds website, he should have current fishing reports.

I went with my dad in 2010 and stayed at Anglers Inn. Best trip of my outdoors life (including a stellar waterfowl trip to Canada) we each caught two double digit fish and 5-10 7-9 pounders between the two of us. we got on one evening bight were we caught 4-6 pound bass every single cast for about 45 minutes, it was unreal. also, the food is incredible, the service is great, and the peace and quite is unparalleled. the travel wasn't bad at all, NOLA-Houston-Mazatlan, the they bring you by shuttle into the lodge.

Well this sounds like heaven....approx cost?

Are you going with the group from North Bossier City?
