Dice,

I've camped there while hunting.

The biggest thing is keeping clean. If you have to get one out early in the trip, you're gonna have to shower after. I know it sounds puss, but you can't go back out in those woods if you are smelly.

Those deer will bust you. They have a portolet out there. Can't run a generator. Sometimes green jeans will ride through just to make sure the place stays clean.

They will also look to make sure you don't have any firearms sometimes(although that is rare).

As to the terrain, somebody mentioned not wanting to drag a nanny out of there. I passed on a doe a few years ago with my 4 wheeler there because getting back up the trail was gonna be hard enough with just me. Put your kill on the front of the bike if ya'll are going up any steep trails, otherwise you could flip your bike backwards...and the party is over.

Be careful in there.

How far is the nearest area to shower? I wasnt planning on showering or anything.
Do you know if campfires are allowed? If they arent, then i aint goin!

I hear there are some really nice deer out there.

Yes, you can have a camp fire.

The old lawyer I went with was a stickler for reading the WMA rules and regs. He knew it as well as green jeans.

As far as a shower goes, his house in Slaughter was the closest.

I'd bring a frick ton of water though if you have to get clean.

There are showers at the trucks stops on US 61 on the north and south end of the parish.

I've camped out there a few times and always brought about 10 gallons of water for drinking, cooking, and showering. Heat the water over a burner, strip down, and use a wash cloth. Not bad at all. Definitely better than driving the 20 miles to the closest truck stop.

As mentioned, the campground isnt bad. Just keep it clean. You can use your 4 wheeler to retrieve any deer you kill. There are old logging roads all over the place that you can use to get into the bottoms with the 4-wheeler. Just make sure that if you bring a 4 wheeler to get the deer that you have a deer on it when you bring it out. Dont take 2 bikes for one deer. Green jeans will be all over it. When are you going?

I've hunted tunica quite a few times. Always hunted the north track. From what I've seen both of the tracks can get crowded. During the special muzzleloader season it is crowded everywhere.

And I have set up quite a few times in the past on what looked like good spots and told myself after sitting there, "how in the hell am I going to get that 225lb buck out of here".

The terrain is pretty brutal. Some of the bottoms are like 50-70ft deep and almost straight down.

Keep in mind that the primitive season is from Nov. 23 - Dec. 9. The deer get pressured pretty hard for these 2 weeks.

I've been on the side of some hills over there where I couldn't quite determine if I was actually standing up or laying down.

You can hope all you want but the woods will be thick with hunters and deer will be nocturnal a frick. Rut doesnt start for several more weeks after that so dont get your hopes up. Have more fun with the experience and let getting a deer be a bonus.

last year my buddy went durin gthis same time.
Cold front moved in, with lows in the upper 20's.
It was the last 4 days of the primitive season. it was basically him and 1-2 other hunters by themselves out there.
