Anybody ever built a trebuchet?

I was thinking it might be a fun project.launch some pumpkins,watermelons,armadillos and such.
What woods should be used?,simplest design..etc..

The slingshot idea was probably first,until they tried to launch a rotten baby pig,then they came up with the trebuchet.

My niece and I built this for her high school physics class. It had to launch tennis balls 100 yards :)

Did you make it work? A tennis ball seems like bad ammo. Weight,resistance,all taken into consideration,probably hard to aim.
Launching a tennis ball 100 yards that way seems impossible.

looks like some nice work though,and I'm sure y'all had fun with it.
Kudos to you working with your niece that way.

My brother built a bad arse one for his daughters school project. I'll see if he can send me some pics

I guess, if I build one, I want it to rotate 360 degrees. Maybe build it on a truck frame?

I built one for my high school physics class back in the day. Had to launch coke cans as far as possible. Ours broke after like two launches

Me and my daughter built one, was fun. Had to sling a softball 50 ft or so...you'll have a good time...
