looking to add a Direct TV sat dish to our camp in Bay Saint Louis...have the brand new dish an installer gave me I mounted it on side wall of camp, but I think it needs to be moved to the roof for proper aiming and someone to use a good aiming tool to lock it in just right.
Thanks
Pepp

As long as no trees/objects are blocking the signal from the sky to the dish you can mount it at ground level. The key to aiming the dish is having the mount absolutely plumb using a level.
If the new dish is single wire management (SWM) did it come with a power inserter to power the dish?

yes it's the latest 4k swm dish and it has the power inserter plugged in near the receiver...Receiver recognizes the dish just fine...I just need to move it onto the roof for a better view of the Sats from where the cable goes into the camp...I believe they use some kind of rubberized/ asphalt tape under the mounting brackets to do this...
Don't want to spend all day doing this myself when I can hire someone that has the right tools that can get this thing remounted and dialed in in less than an hour.

You have a teenager, do what my father did at the camp when I was that age: send him up about noon and start adjusting it until it's just right.

Gotcha I thought you needed some help doing the install yourself. Can't help you with mounting the dish and aiming it for you

I think it'll aim just fine once moved from mounted on the side/eave of the house to the roof...this dish type is huge and it almost cant turn enough without hitting the side of the house...the over hang even blocks some of the dish surface area, so I have a feeling this is half of the problem...
though a smaller dish network dish was in the exact same spot for the past few years up until a couple months ago with no signal problems.
both sat services aim close to the same sats(101, 110)
I used an in mast bubble level to get the arm plumb...
I'm just tired of messing with it.
an att/direct tv tech with the proper tools willing to do some work on the side is currently what we are looking for.
