I've been sporting Drake rubber boots for the last few years because our deer lease stays wet year round, but I'm looking for something more universal. Lately I've been doing a bit of hunting in Mississippi that requires a lot of walking. The rubber boots just aren't cut out for long walks on warm days. My feet sweat and I get blisters. Could someone recommend me a good pair of durable hunting boots that are comfortable for longs walks, warm enough for LA & MS winters yet not too warm for our potentially hot fall weather and are able to withstand treks that may encounter a few inches of water over extended distances?

I personally use Magellan snake boots, doesn't matter the pair, but make sure they aren't overly insulated.if it's cold enough I just use 2 pair of thick socks

what type of socks are you wearing? If you're getting blisters I'd check your socks. I have a pair of Lacrosse Burly that I always wear and have walked many, many miles in them.

I wear thorlo polyester tennis socks with mine and have never had a blister. They pull the moisture away from your foot. Those along with a pair of wool socks and I've never gotten cold, even hunting in very low teens.

Yes, I have the woody max Muck boots and they are quite comfortable for all day walking. Just get some thick hiking socks, but that goes for any boot.

I have Chippewa snake boots and will use that brand forever. Lighter weight than they look in pictures.

I wore the Muck field blazers for years and they are very comfortable for rubber boots. After a few years though, they developed a funky arse smell. I guess I sweated in them too much one time, but it won't go away. We now hunt a place that is super muddy/sticky and it doesn't matter what you wear, it will be a mess. I might just buy an XL size of boot foot waders and put them over everything to go to and from the stand.

ETA: that was after wearing them for 7-8 years

LaCrosse Grange have always worked fine for me from 40-110 degrees. They are tighter, so they are better to walk distances in. I have walked 10+ miles in them with no problems.

Eta: From the tens of thousands of miles of walking I have done in boots, I have learned that improperly fitting boots are the #1 cause of foot problems. My slip-ons are more loose than my lace-ups, and after working two 10 hour days in them at my new job (standing the entire 10hrs), my big toes got numb and my heels hurt. Switched to better fitting logging boots with more support, and no more problems

As was said above, get some better socks

nothing special. Typically it's just a basic wool blend sock.

thorlo polyester tennis socks
must be some good socks for $15/pair.

I'll have to give them a try

I walk all over in them while hunting and usually leave them on all day while at the camp.

I need 2 pairs of boots. 1 for the cold and 1 for the heat. Both pairs are lacrosse. The cold weather boots are the alpha's, the warm weather boots are the granges. I hunt public land and rarely hunt less than a mile from the truck, sometimes 2 miles or so. I put a ton of miles on boots and I won't wear anything other than lacrosse. They're durable and comfortable. The alphas are on sale right now at Cabelas for like $60 I think.

Lacrosse Alpha Burly Non insulated. I have a mechanic that wears his all day when it rains, and I finally walked out of mine after 10 years plus. Only boot I wear down to 30 degrees, then I wear the insulated ones.
