Any outboard mechanics know about Johnson ignition modules?

Long story short, I have a chance to snag a 1997 Johnson 150h.p. OceanRunner for next to nothing, but it hasn't been cranked in a few years. Guy had a mechanic at a local boat shop look at it who diagnosed it to have a bad ignition module. I assumed he meant the power pack, but some research shows this model (J150IXEUC) has this ignition module in place of the power pack. All my usual parts websites have it listed as obsolete and unavailable. Has anyone had experience with these motors? Is this something I can check with an ohm meter like a normal power pack? Is there a replacement part since this part is obsolete? I'm obviously not a mechanic, so trying to figure out if it's worth diving into. Thanks OB.

Not sure about your specific issue but I have a '98 and it's a tank. Loud & thirsty but relatively simple and reliable. Template Marine in French Settlement had a guy who was really experienced with them. He diagnosed and fixed a few issues and has mine running like a top. This was last summer so not sure if he's still there.

No expert but I use boats.net to get diagrams, pictures and oem part numbers.

ETA: I posted the wrong pic, I updated the pic, it's #34

Good LUCK, they have been raided off of every motor supply house and marine junk yard in the south. They were junk from the factory and never were upgraded. Try shaver street marine in Pasadena Texas would be your best bet, large yard full of junk motors to pick parts from probably ten acres.

Sounds like my concerns have been confirmed. That ebay link is the right part and the only one I've found. I guess this may not be as good of a deal as I had hoped. I don't think I wanna spend $750 on a used module that I may not find again when it goes out in a year or 2. Thanks for all the input fellas.
On a related note, anybody wanna buy a 150 Johnson Outboard? Only needs minor repairs!

long shot but try landry's outboards. Maybe he has an old one laying around. Or maybe david wade marine (he post on here) knows of someone who has a used one locally?
