Saw a midland camera ad on Louisiana Sportsman and was thinking about getting one. Anyone have any experience with camera's like the Go Pro etc? Would love to get a archery hit on film!

Never had a gopro but from the videos I've seen. That's all you need. They take great videos.

it's tough with the gopro because it doesn't have zoom capability

Borrowed a GoPro for a whitewater rafting trip. It worked great, but the camera shoots wide angles. I don't know how well stuff will show up at a distance, but for bow hunting I bet it would be money...

No zoom?

Didn't know. The quality is good. But no zoom would be a killer for hunting.

The only hunt I have filmed is a 17" 7 pt cull buck I killed with my bow. My buddy was filming in a Lock on right above mine and we got the approach, the shot, and the death kick after only running 25 yds all on film.

That's the only hunt I've ever filmed.

Yeah, no zoom, so it's not great for deer hunting. But live action like duck hunting or rafting, it shoots a good wide angle view of what you see. A deer 150 yards down a pipeline would look like a dot.

I'm not a fan and have mine set to the regular width

I really enjoy watching hunting videos but I would never want to do it personally.

I videoed my buddy kill a turkey once. I was more worried about the shot than actually being out there and enjoying myself.

Took away from the experience IMO. It seemed too close to work with the camera.

I wouldn't mind filming animals that I let walk or other scenes from nature. I have no desire to film the kill. I don't know, to me that just seems disrespectful to the hunt/hunted.

I am sure that will be unpopular, but that is my personal feelings.

I got a gopro that I am gonna try out for the kids hunts this year. I haven't even used the thing yet but gonna take to my 10yo's football game this weekend to see how it works.
