Thousands expected in Livingston Parish for Tickfaw 200

quote:

The Tickfaw 200 is Louisiana's largest powerboat poker run. It's expected to bring some speedy, million dollar boats from all over the United States.

"Large groups from Texas, New York, Chicago, Alabama," said Eric Edwards, the Executive Director of Livingston's Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Edwards is expecting 7,000 people this weekend. They'll either be watching or taking part in the poker run. The Tickfaw 200 was started years ago, by a colorful character known as Crazy Charlie.

quote:

The poker run takes boaters 200 nautical miles; starting from the Blood River Marina in Springfield then on to New Orleans, Madisonville, Slidell and Tangipahoa Parish.

I didn't realize Canal Bank was one of the stops. I don't think they have been a stop since I lived down here. Perhaps we will be able to see some of the boats passing through..

The diversion isn't safe on the weekend for anyone in a boat under 20'...

Before we left for the game last night this boat came by the house. I am normally not a big power boat fan, but this thing was sexy as hell. Photos are from the Blind River Bar facebook page.

My camp is quite possibly the #1 spot for observing this event. It's been worth dealing with the flooding and other hassle over the years just for the chance to see all the money that participates in this run. And I'm talking about the crews, not the boats.
