Man, I grew up fishing out of a friends camp off of Lake Decade. Good times.

BTW, that brings up a question I've always had... how does one go about putting a camp up down there? Who owns the property? Is it oil company owned? Do those families lease the land where the camps are?

Oil companies own pretty much all the land. My uncle just got a lease on bayou decade almost to jug lake. Lease was $600/yr they usually have a few up for renewal each year.

Our camp is in Falgout Canal marina and we use to pay $600 a year....now its more like $6,000. Pissed quite a few people off. It probably didn't change for the camps on Bayou Decade thoguh.

Heard they were catching out that way.
For me it'll be a watching game and a last minute decision to go this weekend.

I only checked out the temps. I am going no matter what. If its bad we will just cook something good and watch LSU.

We're a little farther down the Navigational at Four Point, but my dad just went through the tunnel headed that way.

He's going in the morning, and if he does any good, I'll let you know. Temp won't be a problem, but north wind at 14 gots to go.

Two weekends ago, he and his buddy caught 79 in 2 days on the northern-mid Pelto area, with some of them real nice. I expect that the cold front that passed recently may have forced the transition to the marsh.

If that North wind will lay down and allow the water to get high enough in the marsh, the temperature would be just right to get em.

Yeh that isn't desireable. I was thinking by Saturday the winds will have switched from the south. I actually figured it would have already happened.

My big concern is clarity. Decade is fishable in a wind you just have to fish the protected banks but if the water is dirty that is not good.

Yep, especially where we usually hit em.

Not a lot of open water to find a protected bank in our spots.

We can't get where we like to go when the wind is out of the North.

Well I know where you're fishing

I have had alot of success on the northern bank...all the way to the end. But mainly where you like to fish.
ETA: nevermind you are fishing east of us. The canals get real shallow with a prolonged north wind over there.

I hunt right in front of your camp in the big crevaye. Buddy crom the camp went to decade last Friday, had five bites but didn't catch any. Camp is on marmande's canal.

Not sure where the pumping station is, but between minors canal, Falgouts canal and marmande's canal. I can see the camps by the launch from my blind.

Buddy with the camp next to ours hunts maybe 3-400 yds from the camp. He rides a golf cart down a levee and jumps in his mudboat for a few hundred yards. He has the ultimate set up. Last year when I was leaving to fish they were already back with their limits.

ETA: Pumping staion is a few hundred yards from Falgout Canal Marina.
