Any ideas on which trees to plant in my yard?

My neighborhood says I have to plant grade A trees in my yard to keep in line with the home owners association. What is grade A? And which trees do you recommend?
Thanks
Thanks

That's not something listed in your hoa bylaws? That would be my guess.

Plant a bald cypress dead in the middle of your yard

I'd plant something that would provide something you like to eat. Orange, fig, plums, avacado, and so on........

I would venture to guess the HOA says no fruit trees so its going to be some tradition version tree native to the area like oak or maple.
while they can certainly say "what" you can plant in your own yard and can dictate if you remove a tree that it must be replaced, but I find it hard to believe they have the right to dictate that you have to plant a tree that was never there before.

I have the same rules. Put four trees in my landscaping only for them to come tell me that the ones on side my front porch don't count as in front of the house. Had to go get two more trees to stick in my front yard which I dont want. I passed inspection now but those two will be moved to the back for shade after I get my deposit back.

I don't know if it means natives, it usually means lolly pop shaped trees. No forked trunks, oddly shaped trunks etc. Basically they want trees that don't have any character to them. The HOA should list what tree species can be planted.
If you want to plant trees that are native and beneficial to wildlife I recommend checking these two books at your library or buying them:
Bringing Nature Home
The Living Landscape
Both are by Doug Tallamy

Why would anyone want to live somewhere where they tell you what to plant and not to plant in your yard..

So you don't have to worry about a neighbor deciding to plant a privacy fence made out of bamboo.

Or planting a Chinese Tallow...
Another reference book to consider is Dan Gill's Month-by-Month Gardening in Louisiana Gardening. It has a section in the back which lists many trees, indicating if they are native to Louisiana, and the canopy they develop as it matures.
The book helped me determine a Willow Oak had the right height, width, and shape for my yard. More important, by knowing the size the tree would become, I didn't plant it too close to the house or overhead utility lines.

Grade A trees are primarily hardwoods and native. Live oak, white oak, cypress, etc. Your HOA should provide you a list of the trees they find acceptable
